About Me

Omaima is a British-Moroccan designer and dressmaker based in London. She works with a small group of women and skilled artisans in Morocco, in collaboration with Heather O’Neill and Khadija Banani. Heather is a consultant, designer and social entrepreneur who works with the United States Peace Corps, the Beyond Sustainability Movement and CARE MAROC - a project empowering rural women in Morocco. Khadija Banani is the head seamstress with decades of experience and knowledge in traditional moroccan craft. Khadija is in partnership with the National Union of Femmes du Maroc, guiding the young women of Khourigba in learning the craft. Women’s empowerment and Moroccan culture are the core focus and inspiration of Omaima’s work. She aims to shine a light on the beautiful culture by designing modern, elegant clothing and create awareness of Morocco’s socio-economic challenges. This collection is about the love Omaima holds for Morocco, and the heartbreak of witnessing rural communities struggle to find employment, adequate healthcare and navigate poor educational systems. It is also about empowering women, and helping them break down the oppressive ideas of toxic modesty culture.
